NREMT vs. Alabama-Specific Requirements
Here’s a quick breakdown of how national certification works with state licensing:
| Requirement | NREMT | State of Alabama |
|---|---|---|
| Written (Cognitive) Exam | Required | Required |
| Practical (Psychomotor) Exam | Not required | May be required by state/local agencies |
| CPR Certification | Required | Required |
| Background Check | Required | Required for licensure |
| State Application | Not applicable | Must apply via the NEMSIS portal |
Please note: The psychomotor exam has been discontinued by NREMT as of 2022. Any hands-on skills assessment now full completely under state-specific requirements and aren’t tied to the National Registry itself.
